Mining Transfer Chute Protected with Bolt-On Rubber Ceramic Liners

Latest company case about Mining Transfer Chute Protected with Bolt-On Rubber Ceramic Liners

Industry: Mining and bulk material handling
Equipment: Material transfer chute
Main Problem: Combined impact and sliding abrasion
Solution: Three-in-one rubber ceramic composite liners

A bulk material transfer chute required additional protection in the feed zone, bottom section, and side walls. These positions were exposed to repeated material impact and continuous sliding abrasion.

Based on the internal structure of the chute, three-in-one rubber ceramic composite panels were prepared. The liners consisted of cylindrical alumina ceramic elements vulcanized into rubber and bonded to a steel backing plate.

The ceramic surface provided direct protection against abrasive material, while the rubber layer cushioned impact and supported the individual ceramic elements. Mounting studs on the back of the steel plate allowed the panels to be mechanically fixed to the equipment.

During installation, the panels were arranged according to the shape of the chute. Special attention was given to the feed point, bottom and direction-changing areas to create continuous wear protection.

The modular structure provided several practical advantages:

  • Reduced direct contact between abrasive material and the chute shell
  • Protection against both impact and sliding abrasion
  • Secure mechanical fixing
  • Easier inspection of individual wear zones
  • Local replacement without removing the complete lining
  • Flexible panel arrangement for irregular internal surfaces

This application demonstrates how rubber ceramic composite liners can be adapted to the actual wear distribution inside a transfer chute rather than treating every area in the same way.

For similar projects, customers can provide chute drawings, operating conditions and site photographs for liner layout and quotation.
